Remove / permanently hide calendar and timeline items (especially recurring ones)

I have a bunch of internal recurring meetings, blocks for travel time, specific tasks, etc that that will never require a follow-up. These completely dominate my timeline and calendar feeds and make it virtually impossible to easily identify important things to follow-up on.

This feature would be much more useful if there were a way to set durable filters or default "views" that removed all of the noise.
