Organization - quick action to see all contacts based on last initial

as a relatively new user, who is going thru the 6000+ contacts that have been merged together, I am looking for a quick/easy way to sort thru these contacts, so that I can quickly bulk tag them or archive them. it would be easier if the contacts could be "viewed" by last initial as some sort of default view.
