Option to keep 'Last Interacted' date synced with interaction log

If I add an event and accidentally select the wrong date, then the 'Last Interacted' date will automatically be updated, but if I correct the date of the event the 'Last Interacted' date doesn't change. This leaves me with a number of inaccurate dates and renders the option to sort contacts by last interaction far less useful.
