Linkedin Job History without changing titles

In my line of work, many people do not put their full title into linkedin. For example, they may have “House of Representatives” but not the individual office they work for. I have that information, but if I connect a contact with Linkedin it will override the title I have manually inserted. I would like to add the linkedin job history section but not have it override any previously added information such as company or job title.
